Recurring events

At a glance

Create events that repeat automatically according to a recurrence rule. Ontologie supports daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, and custom recurrences.

Recurrence types

TypeDescriptionExample
DailyRepeats every day or every N daysDaily standup at 9:30 AM
WeeklyRepeats each week on selected daysTeam meeting every Monday and Wednesday
MonthlyRepeats each month on a given date or dayMonthly review on the first Friday
YearlyRepeats once a yearAnnual review every March 15
CustomFree interval (every 2 days, every 3 months...)Bi-weekly check-in every 14 days

Create a recurring event

  1. Navigate to Calendar in the sidebar.
  2. Click New event or click directly on a date.
  3. Fill in the event details (title, date, time).
  4. Enable the Recurrence section.
  5. Choose the recurrence type from the dropdown.
  6. Configure the specific options:
    • Days of the week (for weekly): select the relevant days.
    • Day of the month (for monthly): choose a fixed date or a relative day (e.g. "first Monday").
    • Interval (for custom): set the number of days, weeks, or months between each occurrence.
  7. Set an end condition:
    • End date: recurrence stops on a given date.
    • Number of occurrences: recurrence stops after N repetitions.
    • No end: recurrence continues indefinitely.
  8. Click Save.

Modify an occurrence

When you modify a recurring event, two options are available:

  • This occurrence only: the change applies only to the selected date. Other occurrences remain unchanged.
  • This and following occurrences: the change applies from the selected date onward to all future occurrences.

Example: if you move the Monday March 10 standup to 10:00 AM instead of 9:30 AM, choose "this occurrence only" to change just that day.

Delete an occurrence

Deletion follows the same logic:

  • This occurrence only: only the selected date is removed from the calendar. Other occurrences persist.
  • All events in the series: the entire recurrence is deleted.

Practical examples

Daily standup

  • Type: Daily
  • Time: 9:30 AM - 9:45 AM
  • Days: Monday to Friday
  • End: None

Weekly report

  • Type: Weekly
  • Day: Friday
  • Time: 5:00 PM - 5:30 PM
  • End: None

Monthly review

  • Type: Monthly
  • Day: First Friday of the month
  • Time: 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
  • End: 12 occurrences

Limitations

  • The maximum number of occurrences displayed in the calendar is limited to the visible date range (typically 12 months).
  • Recurring events without an end date continue to be generated as you navigate through the calendar.
  • Modifying a linked entity type does not retroactively apply to past occurrences.
